About us
Welcome to Kain!
Kain was born from a heartfelt craving for my favourite Kapampangan dishes.
Kapampangans are known for their rich culinary heritage and love of good food, with recipes and cooking traditions lovingly passed down through generations. Over time, Kapampangan cuisine has also embraced influences from other cultures and nations, creating unique flavours and dishes while preserving its Filipino roots.
It was this rich food heritage that I found myself missing when I moved to Australia.
Growing up, I was used to having home-cooked Filipino meals ready in our freezer. I didn’t realise how much I valued that until we moved to Australia and it became harder to find the ingredients and make the dishes I grew up with.
Living in Australia, I also found it challenging to cook these meals because my husband and kids each had their own preferences, not to mention my two brothers who lived with us. Meal prepping just wasn’t working and, frankly, was quite expensive. So I started freezing my “own” dishes, and that’s when everything changed. I discovered a way to enjoy the flavours I loved while embracing my new life in Australia.
As life grew busier and homesickness set in, I realised that we all deserve to enjoy healthy, authentic food — the meals that truly bring us joy. I began freezing not only my favourite dishes but also meals for my kids, husband and brothers.
As migrants in Australia, we often miss the comforting home-cooked meals prepared by our Nanays and Lolas. Our family cherishes our time with the vibrant Filipino community through our church, where we share the happiness of having our favourite foods ready in minutes. I even began sharing frozen meals with friends.
One day, I decided to take a leap and sell authentic dishes to our Filipino community. My goal was to help us all feel a little closer to home through food, creating a sense of connection that transcends distance.
But Kain became about more than just making food convenient.
I also wanted to help keep our Filipino food and traditions alive, especially for the next generation of Filipino Australians. I want them to grow up knowing the flavours and dishes we grew up eating — the authentic Filipino food passed down through our families — and not lose that connection to where we came from.
As Kain grew, so did our menu and our community.
Today, Kain is more than Filipino food. We bring together authentic Filipino favourites, Asian comfort food and Western classics, because we believe good food is for everyone.
Whether you’re Filipino and missing the flavours of home, discovering Filipino food for the first time, or simply looking for delicious meals that fit your busy lifestyle, there’s a place for you at Kain.
We also proudly serve customers receiving Support at Home/NDIS support, where applicable, helping make convenient, delicious meals more accessible for those who may need assistance with cooking or meal preparation.
At Kain Food Co., we believe food is a bridge to our roots, a way to discover other cultures, and a simple pleasure that can bring people together.
Because sometimes, a good meal feels like home.
Whether it brings back a childhood memory, reminds you of someone you love, or simply makes a busy day a little easier — food has a way of bringing us together.
Kain — keeping our food, culture and traditions alive, one meal at a time.
